Sherbet, also sold as Sunset Sherbet or Sunset Sherbert, is an indica-dominant hybrid of Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties that came out of an accidental pollination in Mario “Mr. Sherbinski” Guzman’s San Francisco grow around 2012, and it is one of Gelato’s two parents.1,2,3,4 It is not Rainbow Sherbet, a separate Champagne × Blackberry hybrid, or RS11, which is sold as Rainbow Sherbert #11.5,6,7 It tests at a median total THC of 20.52% across 768 state lab tests of Sherbet flower, with the middle half of results between 17.60% and 22.79%.8 CBD is negligible: none of the 479 tests that reported CBD reached 1%.8

Sunset Sherbet is Sherbet itself. Leafly and Weedmaps file Sherbet, Sherbert, Sunset Sherbet and Sunset Sherbert as one strain: an indica-dominant cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties from Mr. Sherbinski.1,2 In state lab records it is usually labelled with the full name: 666 of our 768 tests say Sunset Sherbet or Sunset Sherbert, and 452 use the Sherbert spelling.8
Indica-dominant. AllBud lists 85% indica and 15% sativa on each of its four pages (Sunset Sherbet, Sunset Sherbert, Sherbert and Sherbet), Leafly and Weedmaps both call it indica-dominant, and Leafly rates its effects mostly calming.1,2,9,13,14,15 Seed versions are sold the same way: Pyramid Seeds’ is 85% indica, and Crop King calls its version an indica-dominant hybrid.12,16
No. Rainbow Sherbet, also spelled Rainbow Sherbert, is a Champagne × Blackberry hybrid whose original breeder Weedmaps says has faded into cannabis history; Sunset Sherbet is Girl Scout Cookies × Pink Panties.1,5,6 RS11, or Rainbow Sherbert #11, is a third strain from Deo Farms and Wizard Trees: Leafly lists it as Pink Guava × Sunset Sherbert, Weedmaps as OZK × Pink Guava, and Weedmaps warns it is not another name for Rainbow Sherbet.6,7,17 The overlap starts with the name: Sherbinski told Leafly his strain reminded him of Thrifty ice cream’s rainbow sherbet.3
Mid-to-high. The median total THC across 768 state lab tests was 20.52%, and 8.5% of tests reached 25% or more. In every year with at least 100 tests (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022) the yearly median stayed between 19.57% and 21.87%.8 Leafly lists 18%, AllBud 15–19% and Weedmaps 15–24%.1,2,9
Sweet and citrusy, with berry. Leafly users list citrus, sweet and tropical; on Weedmaps 41% of flavor reports say sweet, 32% flowery and 27% berry; AllBud lists berry, citrus, fruity, mint and sweet.1,2,9 Sherbinski told Leafly he tasted berry, citrus, lemon, orange and a little lime in it, which is where the name came from.3
Mario Guzman, known as Mr. Sherbinski. Leafly’s genealogy says that in 2012 he put a young Pink Panties seedling into his flowering room of Girl Scout Cookies at his grandmother’s house; it turned out to be male, pollinated the room, and Sunset Sherbert came from the seeds.2,3 He told High Times that Pink Panties itself came from a Burmese pollen of Jigga’s, the breeder behind Girl Scout Cookies, put onto his Larry OG cut.18,19

Montana is where Sherbet leads. Leafly’s 2025 best-sellers list says Montanans bought more Sherbert, “known to many as Sunset Sherbert”, than any other strain that year, and The Marijuana Herald’s September 2026 list of each state’s top seller puts it first there again; Montana is the only state where either list puts it first.20,21
Its bigger footprint is its family. Gelato, bred from it, was Leafly’s first Strain of the Year in 2018; Runtz, a Zkittlez × Gelato cross, won in 2020, Jealousy (Sherbert Bx1 × Gelato 41) in 2022 and Permanent Marker, a descendant of Jealousy, in 2023.22,23,24 Gelato was still sixth on Leafly’s national list of 2025 best sellers, and SeedFinder counts 374 direct descendants of the original Sunset Sherbert.11,20
It started small. Leafly’s genealogy says Sunset Sherbert fetched $4,000 a wholesale pound at medical cannabis clubs in 2013 and that Sherbinski spread small indoor harvests to influential stores across the state; “Rappers were rapping about it,” he told Leafly.3
